In our morning family Bible reading,
we're in Jeremiah. Notice that 4 times it says “house which is
called by my name” in chapter 7. It's as though God is making a
point about what is called by His name. What about today?

I guess the popular phrase now among
the progressives is: “right side of history”. They're committing
the ad populum falacy, like teens who say “Everyone is doing it.”

Of course I've been watching the
events in Crimea, there's a lot that can be said, but I'm very
limited on time, so I'll just throw a few things out:
The area was until 1954 a part of
Russia. They have a naval port there, maybe their only Black Sea
port. The majority of the population identifies with Russia. When
Western powers exalt democracy, is it selective democracy? Like,
anything but secession? There are exceptions, but their norm is move
toward bigger government. If the ideology is international, then it's
the progressive empire. That's what this is, the clash of empires.
The progressive empire is actually “anything but Christianity”;
if you want to have newfound “democracy” that makes Islam your
national religion, the progressives have no problem with that, will
probably even throw in a few airstrikes to aid your cause.
There are times when I receive AM
radio stations from afar; not so much now, but man, was it
interesting when we lived on the little mountaintop. Anyway, the
other day, while the Ukrainian protests were going on; I was
receiving a radio talk show from far away, New York City, I think. I
wish I had paid closer attention. The host was a Jewish man, and he
was talking with a listener about the placards displayed during the
protests. He was saying that make no mistake, those are racist
groups. So president Putin's assertion that there is a threat from
these groups is likely a credible one. But I can't pretend to know
what Russia's real motivations are; I don't live there.
I've read a number of commentaries
about all this; one asserts that president Obama is a coward that
won't act properly. My thought is that he does intent to act, just
that it will be the next move in a continuing exchange of insults and
subversive tactics. I think that up till the Russian resolve of the
Syrian chemical weapons crisis, the exchange is obvious. Beyond that,
I don't have enough evidence to go on. There is one blog by an
American ex-pat in Russia, (window to Russia) where the claim is made
that the protests in Ukraine were funded by the U.S. Anybody can make
a claim like that, I would need verification from another source, or
at least a pretty strong indication. One thing I do think, that is
that planned unrest and overthrowing foreign governments is part and
parcel of what U.S. agencies do. Stock and trade going back many
years, trick number 43 in the list of espionage type stuff.
I do find it quite suspicious that the
latest unrest in Ukraine started just as Russian athletes were making
a great rally and getting an impressive number of victories for their
country. By the way, Go Russia, congratulations! If these things are
the latest incidents in an ongoing exchange; then president Putin has
just brought out a big pile of chips to up the ante.
What's dangerous is that conventional
political wisdom doesn't apply. What I mean is that the current White
House administration doesn't appear to act rationally, but rather, on
egoist emotions. Take the case of the German homeschooling family.
From what I understand, it was a done deal, they were granted asylum.
Then, for whatever reason president Obama digs up the case, and
rescinds their status. The question is:WHY? Conventional political
wisdom strives to get the undecided votes, the middle crowd. It's not
as though there are tens or hundreds of thousands of homeschooling
families immigrating here. So there's no numerical threat, vote wise,
or a swelling ideology contrary to his. Offending the sensibilities
of the swing vote over a non threat makes no sense to me. Maybe he
wanted to befriend the likes of the NEA. Can't imagine they would be
that impressed by the move. Leaves me to think it was just to spite
his rivals. Then there's the nuns. He's actually harassing that group
of nuns with his birth control mandate. The president of the United
States is harassing a group of nuns. Would that EVER have been
politically savvy in history? The president of the United States is
harassing a group of nuns. Today I get the news that He extended the
legal date for the existing insurance policies of some people. There
was an issue of how the insurance companies would be compensated for
the loss of those policies; it was decided that funding could be
funneled through a provision for extremely sick persons. So, they can
find a creative way to work around an issue with the healthcare laws
when they want to, but only when they want to. It's just plain
obvious: The president of the United States is harassing nuns.
You see, that's emotion, spite, and
irrationality at work. How many Roman Catholic voters do you suppose
are in this country? A good number of them were open to the idea of
voting Democrat. Just plain irrational. Now we have our hero in
chief, the great harasser of nuns, playing high stakes poker with a
former Lieutenant Colonel of the KGB?? I don't like the looks of
this; I think it's obvious the president of the United States is
irrational, and he's playing this game?? Not good folks.
